Who doesn’t love a good toy that makes cooking easier?! There are always new kitchen gadgets and accessories being advertised and you don’t really know how useful they are until you buy them! Over the past years I have learned which tools are most useful for cooking and which tools I can live without. I have shared some of the ones I think are most practical and useful in all types of households.
One of my favorite “tools” to use in the kitchen is a spiralizer. I use it mostly for veggie noodles such as “zoodles” (zucchini noodles) and sweet potato noodles, which taste amazing. Veggie noodles are a great alternative to pasta if you are trying to watch your carbohydrate intake or if are looking to try something new. I didn’t realize how much I would use and depend on a spiralizer until I purchased one myself. I recommend this one from Amazon, and its under $30!
I recently discovered a product called “food huggers,” which is exactly what it sounds like. Food huggers are silicone covers that you use in place of plastic wrap or plastic bags and they are said to extend shelf life. I was excited to learn about these because I am always using plastics bags to store unused vegetables and fruits. For example, if I used half of a lemon, I would store the other half in a plastic bag. I always felt like I was wasting plastic bags!
Making smoothies are a part of my daily routine so I made it my mission to find a blender that not only did a good job of blending fresh and frozen foods, but was also portable and easy to manage. I like to do as little work and clean up as possible so a compact blender such as the NutriBullet is perfect. Not only do I use it to make smoothies, but I also use it to blend nuts and other small foods.
